I’m a Japanese high school student playing bass clarinet. I have never listened to such a cool song played by clarinets! I want to play this song some day.

It's not about comparison or competition. It's about your freedom to express how the music moves you and how you communicate with the other players and listeners. Enjoy and love what you do, but reach out and investigate places you have never gone before with the music. It can be a disaster but keep experimenting at the same time work on mastering the basics. That's how you grow and keep from getting stagnant.
@@mrlink1312 You are right. To concentrate so much on something & the EGO takes a back seat....that's when creativity happens. You KNOW. Thanks for sharing that idea. So many players don't get it.
as a saxophonist that's practically obsessed with The Seatbelts I've gone through learning this and thinking of playing it on clarinet is just mind-blowing. Amazingly well done!
+Jorge Daniel Well, I commonly play the "common four" of the sax family, Soprano, alto, tenor and bari. Soprano Bb clarinet, Bb Bass clarinet but very rarely anything else from the clarinet family. I play flute and piccolo, guitar and bass guitar, piano (though, admittedly I can probably barely count this). But I have basic understandings of many more too, but not enough to, let's say, actually read music on the instrument. and I'm 27, been playing saxophone since I was 12.
I honestly love playing along with this. I have a BBb Leblanc Contrabass Clarinet and it sounds amazing when I play the Bass line. Absolutely love this piece.
This is awseome on many levels. I am just getting back into playing clarinet after 30 years doing just bass guitar and guitar. Wish I could afford a nice wood bass clarinet, as that was my main instrument in school. That being said, I often jam the bass line for Tank out when I pick up my fretless, as Cowboy Bebop is my alltime favorite anime. Well done, sir. I have actually never heard the full version with sax solo, but you killed it on the clarinet.
Great piece Mike. Love the practice fast-forwards. It is a great thing for me to show my students on how to approach pretty much anything. I play in a clarinet choir and I would love to get my hands on the arrangement you have done. Peace out.
Captain kiwi If you want to be a good musician you need to be able to learn by ear. Practice exercising your ability to learn by ear, especially if you’re trying to play genres like jazz. It’s a trait you must develop as a musician.
Wow! I am amazed, this was great. If you're looking for another good piece by Yoko Kanno look at Rush. Fun running melody with a with a smooth repetative bass line. I think it would work really great as a transcription for clarinet ensemble!
when you stretch out your forrarms don't pull from the fingers. it'll overstretch the ligaments and the muscles in the fingers, so instead focus on pull back from the palm. it provides the same stretch without the wear and tear :)
I just started following your channel. I honestly thought you were about to sit us down during the solo part and let us watch you learn the solo by ear. LOL!
Love it. I like to play sax solos on my clarinet too xD Like buffalo dances, pequena czarda,... It's amazing the time I spent transcribing pequena czarda... and it is not done yet! Great job, and the practice tips are good (i wish i had a place to go where i could play the same run over and over without annoying my grandparents and brother) Also are you accustomed to playing jazz styles? I ask because i occasionally have issue playing swing style slowly and articulated on clarinet and wonder if you have any tips to help with that?
Yes, I'm accustomed to playing jazz quite a bit. I recommend listening to a lot of it and trying to emulate what you hear. Transcribing solos (like this, or perhaps something not quite so hard) is a great way to start.
Earspasm Music thanks! For some reason on the soprano clarinet i've had a much harder time articulating than any sax or horn, Btw do you check your PM's? I had sent some questions under my other page's name (virtuosorodriguez) and was hoping you could answer a few. Great job again by the way!
Wow that was really good and i don't usually go for jazz. But I was just wondering if the bass clarinet can go as high as the clarinet or how high it can go because a bunch of different sites are saying different things.

Depends on the person. It can go past "super C" (octave above high C) in the right hands. I routinely go that high
by that do you mean sounding a super C or sounding one octave below that?
Alexander Ortins an octave below the clarinet version of Super C, yes.
